Cloudberry

Last purchase day in season 2024 is on Sunday 4.8.2024.

Will be purchased in season 2024 only in Northern Finland at Kuusamo, Kuolio, Taivalkoski, Kuloharju, Posio and Vasaraperä. In North Carelia at Sotkuma and Tohmajärvi.

Cloudberry is a typical swamp plant. It grows abundantly in moist and acidic swamp areas. The berry of cloudberry is ripe when it’s golden yellow by colour, soft, aromatic, juicy and leaves the stem easily. The cloudberry must be ripe at the time of collection.

We use a classification of 1st and 2nd class in the purchase of cloudberries.

1st class: well cleaned cloudberries, no forest garbage in it. There shoudn’t be any overripe cloudberries or stone berries. It cannot contain gray or darkening cloudberries that are perishable berries. It is also strictly forbidden to add any extra in the berries such as water, sugar etc.

2nd class: There can be some forest garbage among the berries and overripe cloudberries. However, it cannot contain gray or darkening cloudberries that are perishable berries. It is strictly forbidden to add extra in berries suhch as water, sugar etc.
