Dalla Valle Oy was founded by Loreno Dalla Valle, who moved from Italy to Finland in the 1980s to build a life together with his Finnish wife, Marketa. Life in Finland, the people he met along the way and many walks in the forest with his mother-in-law inspired him to discover Finland’s wild mushrooms and berries. This eventually led to the founding of Dalla Valle Oy, with the Finnish porcini mushroom at the heart of the business.
For many years, the company’s operations were built around purchasing porcini mushrooms from local collectors and exporting them to Italy. This remains an important part of our business today, although our product range has expanded to include wild berries and other natural products. The autumn harvesting season has always been an important part of our family life, and the next generation grew up sharing the family’s passion for Finland’s wild harvest.
Dalla Valle Oy has always been a natural part of the Dalla Valle family’s everyday life. The family continues to play an active role in the company. Loreno’s daughters, Zelia and Zara, have been involved in developing and growing the family business from a young age. The support of Mamma Marketa has been invaluable throughout the years, and in recent years Lauri has brought valuable expertise to the company’s development.
The strong presence of the family is reflected in our values and in the way we work together. We believe in a close-knit, welcoming and practical working culture where people matter. During the harvesting season our team grows to around 40 seasonal employees, whose contribution is essential to our success.
Together we form the Dalla Valle community, working to bring Finland’s finest wild harvest from the forest to our customers.
During the mushroom season, Dalla Valle Oy employs approximately 30–50 seasonal workers, depending on the harvest. Throughout the rest of the year, our permanent team consists of two people.
Every seasonal employee is an important part of the Dalla Valle team, and we are delighted to see so many of them share our passion for wild mushrooms and Finland’s natural harvest.
Without our dedicated seasonal staff, operating a purchasing network on the scale of Dalla Valle would not be possible, and a significant part of the harvest would remain uncollected and unprocessed.
Together, our employees and our network of collectors are the heart of our company. We are grateful to have so many committed people joining us each season to make it all possible.
