Signs of Porcini Season Starting Again!
News is echoing from the forests of North Karelia – both in spruce groves and on pine ridges. Weather conditions are excellent, and there are clear signs of a new wave of porcini mushrooms emerging. We are looking forward to another busy week ahead. This harvest season has already been hectic, but let’s keep up the pace – autumn is still ahead, and so there’s plenty of good picking time left.
Let’s follow closely how the porcini season develops. On Thursday, September 18, 2025, there was already plenty of activity in Juuka and Koli, and also in the Joensuu region porcini are starting to appear here and there. Very interesting developments! Among other mushrooms, northern milk cups (haaparousku) has clearly benefited from the rains and can now be found in the forests.
As for berries, purchasing continues with lingonberries. The price for lingonberries is currently excellent: €2.10/kg.
