Horn of plenty

Horn of plenty (lat. Craterellus cornucopioides) is a black-gray or almost black coloured, trumpet-shaped or funnel-shaped mushroom. The edges of this mushroom are irregurarly wavy. Horns of plenty grow in places such as fresh oak forests, bright open places and in the sides of forest paths. It is a spruce and birch root fungus and usually grows in dense groups. This mushroom type is true to its growing place. Horn of plenty is common in Southern Finland, and becomes rare more north you go.

Horn of plenty are bought fresh, whole, and well cleaned of soil, sand and other forest debris. No water cleaning. No specially purchase categorization is used.
