General picking instructions

General picking instructions

Dalla Valle Oy purchases only clean, good-quality and food-safe wild products. Picking plays an important role, together with further handling, in maintaining the freshness and safety of the products. By working together, we can help ensure that mushrooms and berries are available for everyone to use safely. The picker is responsible in particular for making sure that the berries and mushrooms brought for sale have been picked, handled and transported carefully, and that certain safety requirements have been taken into account. We will take it from there.

Pickers checklist

Pick only clean and good-quality products

Pick only clean, intact and good-quality berries and mushrooms. Do not bring products for sale if they contain dirt, mould, spoilage or any other abnormality.

Take care of hand hygiene

Always wash your hands before picking and especially after eating. Do not handle picked products with dirty hands. Do not pick if you are sick. Keep snacks separate from picked products. Nut products and other allergens in particular must be kept separate, and hands must be washed after eating.

Use suitable picking containers

Use clean, intact and food-safe containers. Plastic bags or sacks must not be used for berries. The picking container must be suitable for food use. You can identify a suitable container by the fork-and-glass symbol.

Keep species separate

Pick only one species into the same container. Pick only ripe berries. Pick only mushrooms that you can identify with certainty.

Deliver products quickly

Keep the products as cool as possible and deliver them to the buying point as quickly as possible, preferably on the day of picking. Picked products are always checked by the buyer before purchase.
